Traveling Gluten-Free in Europe? Meet Our Local Celiac Travel Consultants
When I launched The Celiac in Italy, it was with one clear goal in mind: to make gluten-free travel in Italy easier, safer, and more enjoyable for celiacs like me. Over the past few years, I’ve been lucky to help hundreds of travelers eat well, explore confidently, and truly relax while visiting Italy. That isn’t always easy when you live with celiac disease.
But one thing kept happening. After wrapping up a consultation or food tour in Florence, people would ask me:
“Do you know anyone who can help with Spain?”
“What about France? Is it as celiac-friendly as Italy?”
“Can you recommend someone for gluten-free travel in Germany or Portugal?”
The truth was, I didn’t have anyone to send them to. As much as I wished there were trusted resources like mine for other countries, they simply didn’t exist. I realized that if I wanted celiacs to feel truly supported across Europe, I’d have to build the solution myself.
And that’s what led me to create Celiacs in Europe, the first service of its kind designed to offer personalized, local, celiac-led travel support across multiple European destinations.
What is Celiacs in Europe?
Celiacs in Europe is a new platform I created to help celiacs travel safely beyond Italy. It works just like my travel consultations for Italy, but now you can get the same personalized, expert support from local celiacs in destinations all across Europe.
From gluten-free croissants in Paris to safe gyros in Athens, our team of local celiacs is here to guide you through the best places to eat, shop, and stay. Every consultation is tailored to your itinerary and dietary needs.
Why I Built It
As a celiac traveler, I know it’s not just about finding gluten-free options. It’s about knowing who to trust. You can read every TripAdvisor review and Google listing and still end up in a restaurant that doesn’t truly understand what “gluten-free” means for someone with celiac disease.
That’s why every consultation through Celiacs in Europe is led by someone who lives in the country and follows a medically necessary gluten-free diet. Our consultants are fluent in the local language (and English), understand the cultural nuances, and know which places are actually safe for people with celiac disease.
You won’t just get a generic list of restaurants. You’ll get customized, trustworthy advice from someone who lives gluten-free every day in the place you’re visiting.
What Countries Are Covered?
We currently offer gluten-free travel consultations for:
With more countries coming soon:
Each destination is covered by a consultant who lives there full time and has personal experience navigating that country as a celiac. You can read their bios, learn about what they offer, and book directly through the Celiacs in Europe website.
More destinations are coming soon, so if there’s a country you’d love to see added, let me know!
How It Works
Booking a consultation is simple. Just visit celiacseurope.com, choose your destination, and select the consultation tier that fits your needs. Whether you’re in the early planning stages or need last-minute help before your trip, we’re here to support you.
You’ll fill out a quick intake form so your consultant can learn about your travel plans, dietary needs, and preferences. Then you’ll meet over video call and receive a personalized follow-up with all the recommendations and tips discussed.
We offer the same level of care and detail I’ve always provided for Italy, now available across Europe.
Who It’s For
Celiacs in Europe is designed for:
First-time visitors who feel overwhelmed by unfamiliar countries and languages
Experienced travelers who want local, up-to-date advice they can trust
Anyone with celiac disease (or otherwise following a gluten-free diet) planning a trip to Europe :)
If you’ve ever spent hours scrolling through outdated blogs or nervously trying to explain cross-contact in a foreign language, this is for you.
